* Inspired by the Book “Autobiography of the Soul” – An Epic of the end of times (Tamil book) (Authors: Valmeegi, Agasthyar / Gnanalayam Pondy)*
Where is the Soul?
If the Soul is taken to exist, where is it inside us?
These were the questions we had taken up in the last Atom#4 - but had not conclusively answered. Is it the heart, where the great Flame is said to dwell within as per the Narayana Sukta?
Valmiki (VAlmeegi, tamil pronunciation) Maharishi has a different take on it. In fact, more than a take, Valmiki Maharishi is pretty sure of it.
In his book Autobiography of the Soul – An Epic of the end of times (in Tamil), Valmiki Maharishi explains the characteristics of the Soul in a detailed manner.
And the Soul is finally seated in the head, within the brain and above the mid-brain - where it deserves to be.
Lord Murugar calls the brain as the royal gland, in his book "Human Brain - The Royal Gland".
Brain - a gland? Well, we already know that the brain contains the pineal gland and pituitary gland. Murugar in the book explains about 6 other glands which surround the pituitary gland. I am yet to start the book, so more on that much later.
The Soul, a fragment of pure energy and light, is said to float above the mid-brain, without any contact with the brain tissues. Then we have to wonder what holds the Soul in our brain, what binds the immortal flame to this mortal frame.
This is the secret of the Soul, the mystery behind the birth-death-rebirth cycle and the key for liberation or moksha.
What is the Soul?
The Soul might be a marvelous mystery, but it is not the fundamental building block (as per who? -as per the limited ignorant me). The fundamental building blocks of life in the 'physical universe' are the - CELLS.
You knew that already right - from biology. The cells make up our bodies, the plants, animals and are the basic units of life. Creating, sustaining and destroying - the Holy Trinity of creative life.
So why are the cells being discussed here in a blog about the soul. Guess what - the souls and the cells have a vital connection.
Vaalmiki Maharishi (VM for short) starts the book Autobiography of the Soul (AboS for short) with a detailed description of cells. I too was not able to catch on, when for the first 100 pages of the AboS, the soul is not even described. Then it made sense as i read the book.
In our body, the cells are of various kinds - specialists in heart, brain, lungs, liver, blood etc. There are a special kind of cells in the brain, which are really unique and different from the other brain cells. They interface with the soul!
I wrote above that the Soul is floating in the brain - mid-brain to be specific, without physically connected anywhere. Prepare to hold your chair or wherever you are from falling down - the soul is chained to these special kind of brain cells. BOUND FOR LIFE in the now, past and future. Like a flying ship anchored to the ground by chain and weights, preventing the ship from flying away.
Get the drift..?
The Soul is a prisoner in the brain and the special brain cells are its prison guards!!
What are the crimes that the Soul must have committed to be bound tightly in a prison by God? (Who, Why, How, What of God merits its own blog)
Keep thinking about it.. the Soul.
The journey to know more about the soul continues...
